Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pulled off a heist and defeated table-toppers, Gujarat Titans (GT), in the 64th match of IPL 2025. The Rishabh Pant-led side put on a big total of 235 on the board and restricted GT at 202 to register a big 33-run win. The visiting team was without the services of its lead spinner, Digvesh Rathi. He was suspended for one game.
LSG pacer Akash Singh made sure that the fans don't miss Digvesh much as he did the famous notebook celebration after taking the big wicket of Jos Buttler. The left-arm pacer foxed the veteran T20 batsman and dismissed him for 33 off 18 balls.
Akash quickly signalled towards the dug-out and did the famous notebook celebration for Digvesh. Buttler was batting on 33 off 17 balls and his wicket was one of the game-changing moments.
Why LSG were without Digvesh Rathi?
The IPL suspended Digvesh Rathi for one game for three on-field breaches. Apart from that, he was also fined 50% of his match fees. Under the IPL rules, four demerit points lead to one suspension point, which implies to a one-match suspension. He had 5 demerit points in his account.
Earlier in the season, 3 demerit points had been added to his account for doing the famous notebook celebration. 2 more demerit points were added to his account after his animated chat with Abhishek Sharma.
Lucknow Super Giants at 7th spot
With 6 wins from 13 matches, Lucknow Super Giants sit at the 7th spot in the IPL 2025 points table. The Rishabh Pant-led side is already out of the tournament.
They sit next to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) despite registering one more win than the defending champions. Another win can see them even finish at the fifth spot in the IPL 2025 points table. LSG will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their last league stage match on May 27.
