Gujarat Titans (GT) will take the field against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Thursday (May 22) at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium while wearing a unique kit, which is of Lavender colour instead of their usual Dark Blue and Gold kit.
The match against LSG is GT's penultimate league stage match of the season before they end their campaign in the first round with a clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday (May 25), which is also a match at home.

Why Are Gujarat Titans Wearing New Lavender Jersey?

The Gujarat Titans (GT) are wearing the special as part of an initiative to raise awareness about cancer and encourage people to undergo medical checkups for early detection.
"Continuing this novel initiative for the third consecutive year, the Titans aim to raise awareness about the critical importance of early detection and access to quality care for cancer patients. The match against Lucknow Super Giants is going to be a special one as Gujarat Titans plan not only to bat for cancer survivors and patients, but also to unite the fans for the cause by distributing thirty thousand lavender flags and ten thousand lavender jerseys amongst them," said a statement by the franchise.
"As athletes, we recognise the platform we have to influence change. Wearing these lavender jerseys is our way of showing solidarity with cancer warriors and honouring their resilience. We believe that through awareness and education, we can empower individuals to take charge of their health and contribute to a future where cancer is no longer a formidable foe," said GT skipper Shubman Gill.
GT started the trend of wearing Lavender Jerseys in one match per season to support their cause in the 2023 season. The Titans first wore the kit in a match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) two years ago in Ahmedabad. They were supposed to wear the special kit in their match against KKR but the game was washed out due to rain without a single ball bowled.
Few other teams in the IPL also wore special kits for one match. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wear a green kit every year to encourage awareness about planting trees and reducing global warming. Rajasthan Royals (RR) have donned a new all-pink kit in once each in the 2024 and 2025 seasons to encourage women's empowerment in rural India.
