Post Rajasthan Royals' (RR) last game of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Yashasvi Jaiswal shared a cryptic post on Instagram which sparked speculation that the star batter is set to leave the franchise ahead of next season.
The Royals had a troubled season as they finished the campaign with eight points and just four wins. Unless Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Gujarat Titans (GT) by a huge margin, the 2008 champions will finish in 9th place on the table.
After rumours of their being unrest in the RR camp, Jaiswal's Instagram post added to the rumour mill before the youngster edited his caption.
"Thank you, Rajasthan Royals, for everything. Not the season we hoped for, but grateful for the journey. On to the next challenge and whatever the future brings. YBJ 65," Jaiswal originally wrote.
Fans were quick to take notice of Jaiswal's post, which went viral with many claiming that this hints at his desire to leave the franchise.
However, Jaiswal put the speculation to rest after changing the text of his post. Jaiswal changed 'grateful for the journey to continue to 'grateful for our journey together.' He also added a tri-colour emoji in front of the next challenge, suggesting he means India's five-match Test series against England, which starts on June 20, instead of a new IPL team.
A key talking point of RR's season was their decision to name Riyan Parag the captain when Sanju Samson was unavailable, despite Jaiswal's credentials as a top player for the Indian team.
Despite a poor start to the season and the team's poor campaign, Jaiswal emerged as a shining light for the Royals. He finished the season with 559 runs in 14 innings at an average of 43 with six half-centuries and a strike-rate of 159.71.
Jaiswal will next be seen in action on May 30 during the first Unofficial Test match between India A and England Lions as the Indian team kicks preparation for their first assignment of the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC).
