- Arshad was visibly in pain
- The ground staff was blamed
The ground staff at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad faced criticism as Gujarat Titans' (GT) pacer Arshad Khan suffered nasty falls during his run-up twice during this Shubman Gill-led team's 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Thursday (May 22).
The incident happened in the second over of the match, which was Arshad's first of the evening after the home side won the toss and chose to bowl. The left-arm pacer took a bad fall just as he was about to deliver his delivery. While the youngest looked in pain, he resumed his over. However, the incident repeated on the fourth ball, leading to massive concern. Evidently in Pain, Arshad managed to complete his over and did not bowl again in the match. He was spotted undergoing treatment on the sidelines. More updates on the status of the injury (if any) are yet to be known.
The match commentators blamed the heavy grass on the top of the crease where the landing foot of the bowler is planted. The match was stopped for a few minutes as the area was repaired by the groundsmen

Arshad, who was part of LSG last yea has been among GT's unsung heroes in the 2025 IPL and was a key reason behind them navigating Kagiso Rabada's one-month absence without any major issues. The left-arm pacer, who is a handy batter to has taken five wickets in eight matches this season at an economy of 8.94. He was signed by GT for Rs. 1.2 crore. The all-rounder also played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2023 season.
Talking about the match, LSG made a quick start as Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram put up a 91-run opening partnership. Markram was dismissed after 46 runs while Marsh hit a half-century.
GT are through to the playoffs but need to win in order to seal a top two spot.
