KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Sanju Samson created history in Delhi
- Samson became the first player to achieve a huge milestone
- Samson has been part of RR since 2013
Sanju Samson etched his name in the history books after playing a key role with the bat for the Rajasthan Royals' (RR) ended their 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign with a comfortable six-wicket victory over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday (May 20) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
As RR walked out to chase 187, Samson played a mature knock of 41 in 31 balls, which included three boundaries and two sixes. Samson anchored RR's innings around quick-fire knocks by Yashasvi Jaiswal (36 of 19), Vaibhav Suryavanshi (57 of 33), and Dhruv Jurel (31* of 12) as the 2008 champions secured victory with 17 balls to spare. The result means that RR have all but avoided the humiliation of a wooden spoon finish unless CSK beat Gujarat Titans (GT) by a huge margin on Sunday (May 25) in Ahmedabad.
Sanju Samson Creates History
Through the course of his knock, Samson created history and became the first player to register 4000 runs for RR in IPL history. Samson and Jos Buttler are the only players in the Royals' rich history to score more than 3000 runs in the league.
