Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will go head-to-head in a blockbuster clash in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday (May 21) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with the two teams the only remaining sides that are still alive in the playoff race.
For those unversed, the Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) have already qualified for the playoffs. This has left MI and DC fighting for the fourth and final spot making their clash against each other a virtual quarter-final.

MI-DC clash Hit With Rain Threat In Mumbai

However, the marquee clash is facing a rain threat after the maximum city was hit with heavy showers on the eve of the game. The forecast for the day of the match is not pleasant either as the IMD have issued a Yellow alert for this week.
This continued a trend of off-season rain in the city. Earlier, MI's previous game against GT was hit by rain. Although, only one over was lost in the last-ball thriller at Wankhede, the match was stopped multiple times.
As per Weather.com, there is a 77% chance of rain in the city on the day of the match. At the start time of time at 7:30 PM IST, there is a 44% chance of rain, which increases to 71% and 72% by 9:30 and 10:30 PM IST.
This increases the chance of a rain-hit game. However, the good news for cricket fans is that BCCI announced on Tuesday (May 20) that each game in the league stage will now have an extra hour. This means that no overs will be lost upto two hours to the scheduled start of play (9:30 PM IST) and a five-over match can start as late as 11:56 PM IST.
Talking about the match, MI will qualify with a victory. If DC win, they will seal their place with a win over PBKS. MI can still qualify if they lose but that scenario will need PBKS to beat DC and lose to the Hardik Pandya-led side.
If the match is washed out, MI will qualify with a win over PBKS or if PBKS defeat DC. If points are shared, DC will need to beat PBKS and hope PBKS beat MI
