Rain Threat Looms Large On MI-DC Must Win Clash In Mumbai; What Will Happen If Match Is Washed Out? (Source: AP)

Rain threat looms large over the crucial IPL match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium. The IMD has issued a warning for heavy rainfall till May 25, and the chances are high that the IPL match could be affected by rain. With Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Gujarat Titans (GT), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) already qualified for the playoffs, there is only one spot up for grabs, for which MI and DC will compete.
MI are placed fourth on the table, with seven wins, five defeats, and a washout. They have 14 points to their name. DC, on the other hand, are fifth on the table, with six wins and five defeats, and a washout. They have 13 points to their tally. The MI vs DC is a knock-out game for DC. If they lose, MI will qualify for the playoffs.
If DC win, they will reach 15 points and a win in their final league game will book their berth in the playoffs as they will reach 17 points, a figure MI won't be able to match. If DC win against MI and lose the final game, they will be stuck at 15 points and their qualification will depend on MI's last fixture. If MI win, they will go through with 16 points.

How Will Rain Impact MI and DC Qualification Chances?

If rain plays spoilsport and the match between MI and DC is washed out, both teams will share a point. MI will increase their tally to 15 while DC will reach 14 points. If MI win the final game, they will go through the playoffs as they will reach 17 points, and DC will only be able to reach 16 points if they win the final game. If MI lose, they will be stuck at 15 points, and if DC win, they will qualify. If both teams lose their last game, MI will go through as they are a point ahead of DC.
