Digvesh Singh, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowler, was fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday.
This was his third Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 this season, and hence, he has been handed two Demerit Points in addition to the three he had accumulated earlier—one Demerit Point against Punjab Kings on April 1 and two Demerit Points against Mumbai Indians on April 4.
As he now has Five Demerit Points this season, Digvesh will be suspended for LSG’s next game—against the Gujarat Titans on May 22, 2025, in Ahmedabad.
Here’s a breakdown of his disciplinary record this season:
1 Demerit Point vs Punjab Kings on April 1, 2025
2 Demerit Points vs Mumbai Indians on April 4, 2025
2 Demerit Points vs Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 20, 2025
For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma was also fined 25 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
This was his first Level 1 offence under Article 2.6 this season and hence, he has accumulated one Demerit Point.
For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.
It all happened, when Rathi picked up the wicket of Abhishek and then marked it with his 'notebook celebration'. However, Abhishek was far from pleased with the leg-spinner's reaction and replied to him with some heated words. The matter escalated as Rathi came towards Abhishek, who was evidently furious.
Later, replays showed that after his trademark celebration, Rathi was spotted giving Abhishek a send-off to which presumably led to the reaction from the Indian batter.
