Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) became the fifth team to crash out of IPL 2025 from the league stage. LSG failed to defend a big target of 206 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The visiting team chased down the target in 18.2 overs at the loss of 4 wickets. It was a must-win game for LSG.
With 5 wins from 12 matches, LSG are at the 7th spot in the points table. SRH were already out of IPL 2025. The Pat Cummins-led side has 4 wins from 12 matches and sits at the 8th spot in the points table.
Apart from LSG and SRH, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders are also out of IPL 2025. Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings have qualified for the second round.
Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals are two teams vying for that one vacant spot. They are scheduled to square off on Wednesday (May 21).
Orange Cap
Sai Sudharsan continues to own the Orange Cap. The Gujarat Titans opener has 617 runs in the season. He is followed by his opening partner, Shubman Gill. The GT captain has scored 601 runs. With 523 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal sits at the third spot.
Suryakumar Yadav has scored 510 runs and is at the fourth position. He was at the top spot before IPL 2025 resumed. Virat Kohli has scored 505 runs and is at the fifth spot.
Purple Cap
Prasidh Krishna has scalped 21 wickets and owns the Orange Cap. He is followed by Noor Ahmad, who has 20 scalps. Josh Hazlewood and Trent Boult share the third spot. Both the pacers have 18 wickets each.
Hazlewood hasn't returned to India yet and he is set to miss the league phase of the tournament. The right-arm pacer is likely to be available for the playoffs.
