Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra feels that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant looked visibly upset about something, and it was evident in the last game that LSG played in the Indian Premier League, where he looked extremely disturbed and frustrated. Highlighting his body language, Chopra said that it doesn't augur well for the Lucknow-based franchise. LSG have not had the best of seasons so far in IPL 2025.
"It’s also true that he was extremely animated as a captain in the last match before the IPL suspension. It seemed like he was extremely disturbed and frustrated. That’s not the captain you want, one who looks frustrated on the ground. You and I will never get to know what’s going on behind the scenes," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
"One shouldn’t come to know from the captain’s face that he is angry, but the anger was visible, which is not a great thing," he further added.
Pant has looked terribly out of sorts with the bat in this season, having scored 128 runs in 11 matches at an average of 12.80 and a strike rate of 99.22, which includes one fifty-plus score.
"My focus will once again be on Rishabh Pant. He is a good player, there is no doubt about that, but the truth is that he hasn’t done well this year," Chopra stated.
Lucknow are currently placed seventh in the points table, having won five and lost six. They will have to win the remaining three matches in order to entertain any hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. The remaining fixtures include matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad set to be played on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, followed by Gujarat Titans on May 22, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 27, 2025 in Lucknow.
