The Delhi Capitals on Sunday suffered a 10-wicket defeat to Gujarat Titans in a crucial IPL 2025 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
During the match, DC bowlers struggled to break the partnership between Sai Sudharsan (108 off 61 balls) and Shubman Gill (93 off 53 balls), as Gujarat Titans won the match by 10 wickets.
Kuldeep Yadav lost his cool on the first delivery he bowled against the Titans. The spinner was introduced into the attack in the eighth over. He had appealed for the dismissal of Sai Sudharsan with his first delivery. After it was given not out by the on-field umpire, captain Axar Patel decided to challenge the decision.
Sudharsan was declared not out due to the umpire's call on impact. A livid Kuldeep expressed his frustration and confronted umpire Keyur Kelkar. He was soon calmed down by his teammates Axar Patel and Faf du Plessis.
Sudharsan went on to score 108 off 61 balls, while captain Gill played a 93-run innings. The opening duo forged a 205-run partnership to beat the Capitals by 10 wickets and took their team to the playoffs. GT now have 18 points from 12 matches.
After this defeat, Delhi Capitals' chances of qualifying for the playoffs are now very slim. Delhi Capitals may suffer an elimination as early as next Wednesday after their defeat against Gujarat Titans. Mumbai Indians host Delhi Capitals on Wednesday (May 21) in a crucial encounter. A win for Mumbai Indians will put them in prime position to seal the 4th spot.
