Star pacer Mayank Yadav was once again ruled out due to an injury after playing just two games of the IPL 2025 for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). New Zealand pacer William O'Rourke has been announced as his replacement for the remainder of the IPL 2025 once it restarts.. The pacer came back after a prolonged break from injury. However, his back injury seems to be a recurring problem as it has affected him again. Reportedly, it is LSG who have been responsible for the youngster's injury this time.
According to a report by The Times of India, the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) and LSG did not follow the due procedures needed to get Mayank Yadav back to full fitness. They rushed him back by ignoring the swelling that he had in his back before he joined the squad for the IPL 2025.
"Mayank Yadav Was Only 80-85% Fit"
A BCCI official has told the publication that the CoE just had 10-12 sessions with him, and he only started bowling with a reduced intensity at the end of March. He also hinted that the CoE and the franchise were merely ticking boxes to get him fit for IPL 2025.
For a bowler who had such a long absence from the game, it’s surprising that it took the CoE just 10-12 sessions to give him a green signal. One-third of those sessions were at a reduced intensity and he started bowling at 80-85% only towards the end of March," the official said in the newspaper’s report.
“You get a true picture only when you operate at full tilt and then take enough time to assess how the body is responding to the increased workload. That workload is gradually increased to observe and assess how the body is reacting to different levels of intensity. With Mayank, it looked like mere boxes were ticked," the official added.
