Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's retirement from Test cricket marks the end of an era in Indian cricket. Rohit announced his retirement after an extended lean patch in Test cricket, which saw him drop himself from the playing XI of the final Test in Australia. Kohli too wasn't having a great time in Test cricket, and his poor form could be one of the reasons why he decided to call quits, even though media reports claim that the BCCI wanted him to be on the flight to England, and even requested him to reconsider his decision.

Will Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Retain Their Contracts?

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were handed an A+ contract by the BCCI. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja were the other cricketers to get an A+ contract. Following the retirement, many are wondering if the BCCI will demote the players in the contract as they will only be playing the ODIs. According to sources, BCCI has no such plans and the veterans will retain their A+ contract despite being retired from Tests and T20Is.

Dilemma For Selectors

The retirement of two stalwarts have left the selectors searching for answers ahead of the England tour. India would need a batter who can play at four for India. Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan's names are doing the rounds to replace Virat Kohli at No.4. For the captaincy conundrum, the BCCI is mulling over Shubman Gill, even though experts have suggested BCCI to back Jasprit Bumrah. The concern for BCCI in making Bumrah captain is his fitness and workload management, which might force Bumrah to miss a few matches.
