With the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) set to restart from Saturday, May 17, 2025, after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire last week, some of the overseas players might be unable to play the rest of the tournament owing to their international commitments. The West Indies are set to tour England for a three-match ODI and T20I series, starting May 29, 2025, while South Africa and Australia would be gearing up for the all-important World Test Championship final, starting June 11, 2025, at Lord's, London.
Gujarat Titans (GT), with 16 points, top the points table, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the second place with as many points due to their net run-rate, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) with 15 points, and Mumbai Indians (MI) 14 points are placed at third and fourth respectively in the overall standings. RCB are unsure of the availability of as many as four players, followed by GT, who might miss out on the services of three overseas players for the remainder of the tournament. MI are also expected to take a significant hit in terms of available overseas resources, with three players uncertain to take any further part in IPL 2025.
Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals might find themselves in a spot of bother as well, given the fact that they are staring at the possibility of missing out on some key members due to the international calendar. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who still have an outside chance to qualify for the playoffs, will be dealt a blow as well, with IPL 2025 extending till June 3, 2025.
For Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the tournament is all but over, while Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have already been eliminated from the playoffs race. So, it would not make much of a difference for them. Here's a full list of overseas players likely to miss out when the IPL resumes this weekend.
