A troll who made a sexist and ridiculous comment on social media while asking Bollywood actor and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta about Glenn Maxwell's lacklustre 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) performances has been called out by her. Without holding back, Zinta questioned if the troll would have asked a male team owner the same question.
Preity Zinta hosted an 'Ask Me Anything' (AMA) session on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. One follower questioned whether Glenn Maxwell's lack of success was due to her not marrying the Australian all-rounder. In her strong-worded answer, Zinta denounced the question's sexist and ridiculous tone. The accomplished actor also demanded that gender bias on social media be stopped and stated that she deserved respect.
"Ma'am, did Maxwell not perform better for your team because he didn't marry you?" the troll wrote before later deleting the post.
"Would you ask this question to the male team owners of other teams, or is this kind of discrimination reserved only for women? I never realised how difficult it is for women to survive in corporate setups until I entered the world of cricket. I'm sure you asked this out of humour, but I hope you take a moment to actually read your question and reflect on what you're implying-because if you truly understand it, it's not pretty," Zinta replied
"I believe I've earned my stripes by working very hard for the past 18 years, so please give me the respect I deserve and stop with the gender bias. Thank you," she added.
With just 48 runs at an average of eight in seven games, Glenn Maxwell has had a dismal season. Having only scored 52 runs in 10 games for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2024 season, this prolongs his dismal IPL streak.
Meanwhile, having owned Punjab Kings from the league's founding in 2008, Preity Zinta is among the IPL's most seasoned club owners.
