IPL 2025 vs International Series: Which Teams Will Suffer the Most In the Indian Premier League. (Source: BCCI)
IPL 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the resumption of the IPL 2025 on May 17 after extensive consultations with the government and security agencies.
A total of 17 matches will be played across six venues starting this weekend and culminating in the final on June 3, 2025. The revised schedule includes two double-headers, which will be played on two Sundays.
The playoffs are scheduled as follows: Qualifier 1 will be played on May 29. The Eliminator will follow it on May 30, Qualifier 2 on June 1, and the Final on June 3.
However, this led to a clash as the white-ball series between England and the West Indies began on May 29.
Hence, the teams most affected by it are Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Gujarat Titans, and Mumbai Indians. Incidentally, all three are in contention for a spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs.
The BCCI though is ramping up the pressure on foreign boards so that players can return for the IPL. According to a PTI report, BCCI top brass has instructed IPL COO Hemang Amin to individually speak to the likes of Cricket Australia (CA) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to allay the concerns that the players may have about returning to India.
"We have been speaking to the foreign boards individually while teams are directly dealing with their players. We expect majority of them to return," a BCCI official told PTI on Tuesday.
Cricket Australia (CA), though, has left it on the players to decide on their participation.
