
Mohammed Siraj pens down emotional note for Virat Kohli (Credit: PTI)
After the former India captain announced his retirement from Test cricket on Monday, May 12, fast bowler Mohammed Siraj gave a moving tribute to his superhero and bhaiya, Virat Kohli. Siraj played eight Test matches under Kohli's captaincy. He made his Test debut in 2019 and was instrumental in India's historic tour of England in 2021, which included the historic victory at Lord's.
Siraj praised Kohli for supporting him during his journey and said that the dressing room would not be the same without him in an emotional social media message.
"To my superhero, congratulations on the wonderful career you've had in Test cricket. Your legacy will stay forever. You’ve inspired generations of cricketers like me and will continue to do so with your achievements and the way you’ve carried yourself, bhaiya. The dressing room won’t be the same without you. Thank you for always backing me and motivating me to do well. Wish you the best, King @virat.kohli bhaiya," Siraj captioned his post for Virat Kohli.
Bollywood actor and Kohli's wife, Anushka Sharma, responded to the tweet with a heart emoji. The Lord's Test in 2021, one of the biggest international victories of Kohli's captaincy, was masterminded by Siraj. Siraj left a lasting impact by taking eight wickets, including four in a few ferocious bursts on the last day.
Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket after 123 games and 9230 runs, including 30 hundreds. As captain, Kohli scored 5864 runs at an average of 54.80 runs, averaging 46.85 runs. Virat Kohli has been receiving a ton of tributes. The former captain has been inundated with well wishes and expressions of gratitude, ranging from Sachin Tendulkar's nostalgic tribute to a note from former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
