Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket, pulling curtains on an incredible 14-year career in the game's longest format, on May 12 (Monday). The legendary cricketer confirmed his decision before India's upcoming five-match Test series against England, which kicks off on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.

He officially announced this after posting a statement on his Instagram account. Virat's announcement followed Rohit Sharma's shocking decision to retire from Test as well a couple of days ago.

As both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have now retired from T20I and Test formats, they would solely be focusing on the ODI cricket with the 2027 World Cup in South Africa at the top of their priority list. Now the fans are wondering when would be the next time they would get to witness their favourite players donning the Indian colours.

As per the Indian men's cricket team's schedule, the Men in Blue side is set to tour Bangladesh for three ODIs and as many as T20Is in August. However, as per the current scenario and reports, it is highly unlikely that India would travel to Bangladesh for this tour. This means, the fans would probably have to wait more to see Virat and Rohit play for India.

The Indian team's next 50-over assignment will be up against Australia when the Men In Blue take a trip to land down under later this year in October. They would face Australia in three ODIs and five T20Is. This is the series where Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma would most probably make their return for the Indian cricket team.

Despite making a brief comeback to domestic cricket in the Ranji Trophy for their respective state teams, both veterans chose to retire from Test cricket ahead of India's forthcoming tour of England after having a rough 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy campaign.
