The remainder of the 2025 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was supposed to be shited to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the tensions between India and Pakistan that existed for the past couple of days. However, reports surfaced that the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) rejected the proposal. After that, PCB officially said that the PSL 2025 had been indefinitely postponed. ICC chairperson Jay Shah might have had a role to play in this.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Indian cricket administrators played a major role in convincing ECB to reject hosting the PSL 2025. Jay Shah is believed to have played a crucial role, given his great relationship with members of the ECB.
"We owe it to the BCCI and Jay Bhai," an ECB official told Cricbuzz, thus confirming why they chose not to host the PSL 2025.
"When soldiers are dying at the border, we cannot keep quiet," an Indian cricket official said.
ECB Requested Exorbitant Amount From PCB
According to the report the ECB first denied the use of the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to PCB. Thereafter, they quoted an exorbitant amount from PCB to host the PSL 2025, which was pretty difficult for the cash-stripped board to afford.
There were reports that the foreign players who were part of the PSL 2025 wanted to return home, given the situation that existed between India and Pakistan. They stated that they had regard for the mental well being of their foreign players, as they resepected the concerns of their families.
"We, at the PCB, also have sincere regard for the mental well-being of participating players and the sentiments of our foreign players, and we respect the concerns of their families who want to see them back home," a PCB official told the publication.
