England Offers To Host IPL 2025 After Tournament Gets Suspended For Seven Days: Report

In what came as a bit of massive news, the rest of the IPL 2025 has been suspended for a week amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. The question is now when the remaining 15 matches of the tournament will be played. There have also been worries as to whether the tournament can be played at all in India given the current situation. Amidst this, England have made an interesting offer to BCCI.
According to a report by The Cricketer, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has offered the BCCI to host the remainder of the IPL at their venues.
In a post on his X account, former England captain Michael Vaughan suggested that the IPL 2025 could be moved to England. This is because they have a lot of venues and the Indian players involved could stay in the country till the five-match Test series vs England commences
"I wonder if it’s possible to finish the IPL in the UK .. We have all the venues and the Indian players can then stay on for the Test series .. Just a thought?" Vaughan wrote.
What Did BCCI Say?
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week. Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders," the BCCI said in its release.
"The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after due consultation with all key stakeholders following the representations from most of the franchisees, who conveyed the concern and sentiments of their players, and also the views of the broadcaster, sponsors and fans ; while the BCCI reposes full faith in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board considered it prudent to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders," it added.
