Legendary India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar went down memory lane and remembered Rohit Sharma's Test debut in 2013 after he retired from the red-ball format. Just before the crucial England tour, Rohit announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 7. At Kolkata's famed Eden Gardens, Rohit made his debut against the West Indies in the longest format.
With a stunning 177 to help his team rally from a vulnerable position of 156/6, the right-handed batter had an incredible start to his career. Tendulkar recently recounted how he gave Rohit his Test cap during his debut. The renowned batter wished him well in his future endeavours and congratulated him on his career.

Sachin Tendulkar's Special Note For Rohit Sharma

“I remember presenting you with your Test cap in 2013 at Eden Gardens and then standing with you on the balcony of Wankhede Stadium the other day - your journey has been a remarkable one. From then to now, you have given your best to Indian cricket as a player and as a captain. Well done, Rohit, on your Test career, and best wishes for what lies ahead,” wrote Tendulkar in a post from his official X account.
At Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where Tendulkar played his final international match, Rohit scored another century in his second Test after winning Player of the Match on his debut. Rohit returned in 2019 as an opener and saw tremendous success following bursts of genius in the first part of his career.
With 4301 runs from 67 games with an average of 40.57 and a strike rate of 57.05., Rohit concluded his career. Throughout his career, he amassed twelve hundred, all of which were in a winning cause. In the longest format, Rohit also smashed an incredible 88 sixes, which was second only to Virender Sehwag's 91 sixes for an Indian. In 24 Test matches, he captained India, winning 12, losing 9, and drawing three.
