The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday (May 8) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala is facing a rain threat with clouds looming over the scenic stadium. The match is a vital game for both teams in the race to reach the playoffs.

As things stand, PBKS are second in the table with 15 points while the Capitals are in fifth place in the table with 13 points. The Shreyas Iyer-led side will seal their place in the playoffs with a victory, while a win for the Capitals will throw open the race to finish in the top four.

Over the last week, it has been raining in intervals in Dharamshala. However, there was no interruption to the first game of the season between PBKS and LSG at the venue. The forecast for Thursday is grim with a 20% chance of rain during the match as per Accuweather.

This is likely to be the last match of the season at the venue as the PBKS-MI clash scheduled to take place on Sunday (May 11) is set to be moved, with Ahmedabad emerging as a likely venue. Due to the closure of the Dharamshala airport following Operation Sindoor, logistical issues will mean that MI cannot travel to the city and hence the need for the match to be played at a different venue.

So far this season, two matches have been washed out, with PBKS and DC both involved in one each. PBKS' away match against KKR at Eden Gardens was washed out after just one over was bowled in the second innings. The Punjab-based outfit looked favourites to win the match after posting a huge total of 208 on the board.

On the other hand, the fixture against SRH in Hyderabad earlier this week was called off after rain as they got a lucky point after being bowled out after making a first inning score of just 133.
