MS Dhoni etched his name in the history books during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday (May 7).
Dhoni was at his best behind the stumps after Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bowl first. Dhoni completed a stunning stumping to dismiss Sunil Narine from Noor Ahmed's bowling before taking a brilliant catch behind the stumps to get the wicket of Angrish Raghuvanshi.
MS Dhoni Creates History
With the stunning day behind the stumps, Dhoni etched his name in the history books. A few days after becoming the first player in IPL history to be part of 200 dismissals, Dhoni has now become the first wicket-keeper to achieve the feat with 153 catches and 47 stumping.
Overall, Dhoni has 204 dismissals in his career, having taken a few catches in the outfield while sharing wicket-keeping duties with Parthiv Patel in the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Dhoni has also completed 200 dismissals for CSK in all competitions with 149 catches and 51 stumpings.
He becomes the first player in the history of the sport to achieve the feat for one team in T20 cricket.
In the IPL, Dhoni has completed 175 dismissals for CSK (135 catches, 40 stumpings) and 25 (17 catches, 7 stumpings) for the Rising Pune Supergiant.
In his T20 career, Dhoni has been part of 316 dismissals as a wicket-keeper, which is the most by any gloveman in history. He has taken 224 catches and completed 92 stumpings behind the stumps. He completed 91 dismissals for India in T20Is, which is only second to Quinton de Kock in international cricket.
As far as the match is concerned, KKR posted a total of 179 on the board with Noor taking a five-wicket haul.
