Will MS Dhoni Miss KKR Vs CSK Match After Skipping Two Back To Back Training Sessions?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are all set to take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday (May 7). All eyes will be on MS Dhoni as he leads CSK in this match. The team will be playing for pride having already been knocked out of the tournament. However, reports from the ground stated that MS Dhoni did not attend any practice session for two days at a stretch ahead of the match, thus raising questions on fans'minds as to whether he can play the game. CSK have now cleared the air.
In the press conference ahead of the CSK vs KKR match, CSK bowling coach Eric Simons confirmed that MS Dhoni will play in all likelihood against KKR. He also stated that the CSK captain knows his situation very well and he is aware of what preparations he needs to take.
"Yes, he's expected to play tomorrow,” Simons said.
“With regards to MS, he knows his situation very well. He knows where he is. In terms of his preparations, he always works very hard at the beginning of a tournament and then allows himself to taper off because he gets himself in a space where he's ready. So no issues, he just knows when he is prepared and when he's not," the CSK bowling coach added.
'MS Dhoni's Influence Is Legendary'
Eric Simons also highlighted how important MS Dhoni's influence is to CSK. He said that Dhoni has always been the guiding light for he franchise eben when Ruturaj Gaikwad was the captain of the side.
“You see MS Dhoni as the cricketer, we always see MS Dhoni as the man who is a remarkable individual. His influence on the team, his ability to nurture Rutu, to nurture young cricketers, is what's legendary about him,” said the bowling coach.
“His influence is always there. Sure, he now makes the final decisions on movements of fields, but his influence — whether he was captain or not — was always there without imposing. He doesn't impose himself on anybody. From selection conversations to tactics on the field to taking over from someone like him, what made it easier is the way that MS handles those moments."
