Mohammed Shami is not part of Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) line-up against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash on Monday (May 5) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. The match is a do-or-die clash for the Pat Cummins-led side as a defeat will seal their exit from the tournament.

After Pat Cummins won the toss, SRH decided to bowl first. The team sheet showed two changes in the line-up by SRH as Nitish Kumar Reddy and Kamindu Mendis were not part of the line-up and were replaced by Sachin Baby and Eeshan Mainga alongside Shami's absence.

While Shami's name is part of the impact players' nomination, he is unlikely to come on as SRH are bowling first, and Travis Head is also in the list, who is almost certain to open the batting.

Cummins made no mention of any injury to Shami, and his presence on the impact player list makes it clear that he is fit. Hence, the legendary Indian pacer has been dropped from the playing XI after a poor season.

Shami has been far away from his best in his debut season for the Sunrisers with just six wickets in nine games at a bowling average of 56.17 and an economy of 11.23.

This is the second game he is missing this season after the defeat to Mumbai Indians (MI) in Hyderabad.
