Smriti Mandhana joined Harmanpreet Kaur in an elite list and became the third Indian women's cricketer to achieve a huge record when she stepped onto the field for the tri-series game against Sri Lanka on Sunday (May 4). Mandhana became the third Indian to play 100 ODIs and 100 T20Is for the Women in Blue.
Harmanpreet was the first cricketer to achieve this record. The India captain has played 144 ODIs and 178 T20Is. Deepti Sharma became the second player to achieve this feat. The star India all-rounder has played 104 ODIs and 124 T20Is.
Mandhana is playing her 100th ODI and has played 148 T20Is. The India vice-captain made her international cricket debut in a T20I against Bangladesh on April 5, 2013. Five days later, she made her ODI debut against the same opposition. She played her first Test match against England in 2014.
Mandhana is one of the best batters of the present generation and she has scored 4306 runs in ODIs. Her tally includes 10 centuries and 30 half-centuries. She has a solid average of 46.10. Mandhana has 3761 runs in the shortest format. The left-hander has 30 half-centuries in the shortest format as well.
Smriti Mandhana scores 18 in 100th ODI
The India opener didn't have a memorable outing in her 100th ODI and she departed for 18 off 28 balls. Every Indian batter got a start as the home team put on a total of 275/9 on the board. Richa Ghosh scored a brilliant half-century in the total.
