John Cena etched his name in history books when he won his 17th world championship by defeating Cody Rhodes in the main event of Wrestlemania 41. The WWE legend now owns the record for winning the most world championships in WWE. Cena won his first world title at Wrestlemania 21 and 20 years later, he won probably his last world title.
The 17-time world champion is set to retire in December 2025 and he could very well end his WWE career with the title. As the fans wait for Cena's first title defence, here we have a look at 5 superstars with most world championship wins in WWE -
Triple H and Randy Orton
Triple H and Randy Orton follow John Cena in the elite list. The former Evolution members have won 14 world titles each. Triple H was already a well-established name in WWE by the time Randy made his WWE debut in 2002.
Triple H was forced to retire from in-ring action in 2022 and he is now the Chief Content Officer of WWE. Randy is still an active competitior and is set to challenge Cena at Backlash. While he might not be able to win at Backlash, Orton is likely to have one more run with the championship.
Edge
Edge was WWE's most reliable superstar at one stage in his career and he had 11 title reigns. He won his maiden world championship by cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on John Cena. He was forced to retire in 2011.
The Rated-R Superstar made his in-ring return at Royal Rumble 2020 and had a nearly four-year stint with WWE. Edge left WWE in 2023 and is now part of AEW. He didn't win a title in his second run with WWE.
The Rock and Brock Lesnar
The Rock and Brock Lesnar won the world championship 10 times each. The Rock won his final title by defeating CM Punk at Royal Rumble 2013. The Final Boss could have had another title run in 2024 as he was supposed to face Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 40. But the plans changed and he instead teamed up with his cousin against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.
