Riyan Parag etched his name in the history books despite the Rajasthan Royals' (RR) defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata by a margin one one run in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) which meant the Royals remain in 9th place with just three wins in 11 matches.

Chasing a total of 207, the Royals' top order collapsed as they found themselves at 71-5 in the eighth innings. However, RR skipper Parag led a remarkable charge by playing one of the greatest innings in the history of the league with a 45-ball 95, which included six boundaries and eight sixes.

It was in the 13th over that Parag turned the game on its head by smashing five consecutive sixes off Moeen Ali. Parag is only the fifth player in IPL history after Chris Gayle, Rahul Tewatia, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rinku Singh to hit five sixes in an over.

In the next over, Parag was given the strike on the second ball and smashed Varun Chakravarthy for a maximum. This made the 23-year-old the first player in the history of the league to smash six consecutive sixes.

Post his heroics, Parag's two-year-old post predicting himself hitting four sixes in an over went viral on social media. The youngster managed to outdo his own prediction from 2023 with five sixes in the over and six in consecutive balls.

This innings marked Parag's first half-century of the season after a season where he made starts in many games but failed to score a big game. The Royals star has made 377 runs in 12 innings at an average of 37.70 and a strike-rate of 170.58.

Parag has led RR in eight of the 12 games this season due to injury issues for Sanju Samson. RR has won just two games in his captaincy.
