Riyan Parag etched his name in the record books and created history as he became the first-ever batsman to hit six back-to-back sixes in IPL. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain achieved the milestone in a space of 2 overs. Up against Moeen Ali, Riyan hit the bowler for a six on the second ball of the 13th over to complete his half-century.
He followed up with three more sixes before Moeen bowled a wide. Riyan finished the over with a fifth six, fetching 32 runs from the over. Shimron Hetmyer took a single on the first ball of the 14th over bowled by Varun Chakravarthy. Riyan Parag created history by smashing the mystery spinner for his sixth consecutive six.
There was no stopping Riyan and he single-handedly brought RR back into the game in the big target of 207. The right-handed batsman departed for 95 off just 45 balls in the 18th over.
Riyan is leading RR in Sanju Samson's absence. The full-time RR captain is out of action due to a side strain. Riyan also captained RR in the first three matches as Samson played those games as an Impact Player.
Rajasthan Royals suffer one-run defeat
Riyan's efforts went in vain as the visitors suffered a one-run defeat. With 3 runs needed off the final ball, RR managed one run and failed to take the game to the Super Over.
Shubham Dubey and Jofra Archer raised RR's fans' hopes with their heroics towards the end. Shubman remained unbeaten on 25 off 14 balls. He hit 2 sixes in the 20th over. Jofra scored 12 off 8 balls. He was run out on the final delivery.
RR are already out of IPL 2025 and they are at the 8th spot in the points table. The win over RR saw KKR collect 2 much-needed points and they are at the 6th spot. They have 11 points in their account.
