Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered their 9th defeat of the IPL 2025 campaign in a thriller of a match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Despite the defeat, there has been one shining light for the five-time IPL champions, and that was 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, who played a sensational knock as CSK attempted to chase a mammoth target of 214. He thus broke a 17-year-old record held by CSK legend Suresh Raina.
Ayush Mhatre slammed 94 from 55 balls, in an innings studded with nine fours and five sixes. At just 17 years and 291 days, Mhatre becomes the youngest player to score a half-century for CSK. He breaks the record for Suresh Raina who slammed a fifty at 21 years and 148 days old against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2008.

RCB Seal Thriller Vs CSK

RCB batted first and got off to a great start with a 97-run stand for the opening wicket between Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli. While Bethell scored 53, Kohli slammed 62. CSK then stemmed the run flow in the middle overs, with Matheesha Pathirana taking three wickets. Romario Shephed then pulled off a blinder of a knock at the end, smashing the second-fastest IPL half-century in history in just 14 balls to guide RCB to 213/5.
CSK were well in the game thanks to a superb 94-run knock by Ayush Mhatre and the century partnership he put up with Ravindra Jadeja, who went on to score 77. However, some great death bowling by RCB, including a thrilling final over from Yash Dayal helped them win by 3 runs at the end.
