The upcoming edition of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 will start on June 12, and the legendary Lord's Cricket Ground in London will host the Final match on July 5. Kennington Oval in London, the County Ground in Bristol, the Edgbaston in Birmingham, the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton, Headingley in Leeds, Old Trafford in Manchester, and others will also host matches of the mega tournament.
The venues and dates were announced at a launch event held at the Lord's on Thursday, May 1. The competition will consist of 33 matches spread over 24 days. There will be 12 teams in the next World Cup, the most in any edition so far. The 2017 Women's ODI World Cup final was also held at Lord's.
India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, England and Australia already have secured spots in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the other teams will have to compete in the Qualifiers which will be held next year.
"The confirmation of venues represents a defining moment as we build towards the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. This tournament will bring together the world’s finest players in a celebration of skill, spirit and sportsmanship," ICC Chairman Jay Shah said.
"The United Kingdom's rich diversity has always shown passionate support for all teams, something we witnessed so memorably at past events. The sell-out Women’s Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s in 2017 remains a landmark in the rise of the women’s game, and I cannot think of a more fitting stage for the final," he added
The 12 teams will be split into two groups of six after which it will be time for the knockout games and the Final. Last October, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, New Zealand defeated South Africa by 32 runs. They will be the defending champions. India has only been in the final of the tournament once, against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2020, and is yet to win the championship.
