India are all set to begin their World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign with a five-match Test Series vs England, with the first match beginning on June 20 (Friday) at Headingley, Leeds. This will be a tough Test for Shubman Gill, who will be making his India captaincy debut in the series. He will come face to face against England's famed attacking 'Bazball' approach under head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes. However, the new Indian captain seemed confident on the eve of the 1st Test as he fired a big shot at this style of play.
During the press conference on the eve of the first India vs England Test, an English journalist asked Shubman Gill if he was inspired by the Bazball style of play, and what their style would be in the upcoming Test Series. In a witty response, Gill said that the journalist would have to wait till August to see what kind of style they are going to play. This ignited laughter among the rest of the journalists.
"You're going to have to wait till August to see what kind of style it's going to be," Gill said.

Shubman Gill To Replace Virat Kohli In Batting Order

With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired, there were questions as to who would replace them in the batting order. The captain Shubman Gill will now drop down to the number four spot, that has been held by legnds Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli for the past 33 years.
This was confirmed by vice-captain Rishabh Pant in the press conference two days before the 1st Test.
"I think there is still discussion going on about who is going to play 3. But 4, 5 are definitely fixed. I think Shubman is going to bat at 4 and I am going to stick to No. 5 as of now, and rest we are going to keep on discussing that," Pant said.
