Suryakumar Yadav etched his name in the history books of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after completing 4000 runs in the competition during the vital clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (April 27).
After Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bat first, Ryan Rickleton gave MI a quick start with a quick-fire half-century. Suryakumar walked out to bat in the 9th over after the South African opener was dismissed and put on a show to remember to ensure the home team maintain a healthy run-rate despite wickets falling around as Tilak Verma and Hardik Pandya were dismissed for single-digit scores.

Through the course of his innings, the Indian T20I skipper completed 4000 runs in his IPL career during what is his 145th innings in the IPL to continue his rapid rise as one of the greatest players to play the shortest format of the game. Suryakumar etched his name in the history books by becoming the first Indian to complete the milestone with a strike-rate above 140 and only the third player after Chris Gayle and Ab de Villiers.
