Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made a massive change in their playing XI for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday (April 27) as Phil Salt is not part of the line-up for the vital clash in the race to qualify for the playoffs as well make the top two.
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to bowl first. The 31-year-old revealed that Salt is not part of the playing XI due to a fever. Salt's fellow Englishman Jacob Bethell has replaced him in the line-up. The English all-rounder is making his debut in the IPL
Salt has been key to RCB's success in the 2025 IPL so far and formed a formidable opening pair with Virat Kohli. The 28-year-old has 239 runs in nine innings at an incredible strike-rate of 168.50.
On the other hand, Faf du Plessis returned to DC's playing XI after missing their last four games due to an injury. The 40-year-old will face the team he captained for three seasons.
Coming into the match, DC and RCB are third and fourth in the table with 12 points on the board. The winner of the match will rise to the top spot in the table.
In the reverse fixture, a brilliant knock of 93 in 53 balls from KL Rahul helped DC beat RCB by six wickets at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
