With the wicket of Rasheed, Shami set a massive all-time record, as it marked the fourth instance of him taking a first-ball wicket in an IPL innings. Shami dismissed KL Rahul on his debut for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 2022 IPL season at the Wankhede Stadium. During his two-year stint with the Titans, he also dismissed Phil Salt on the first ball of an innings while playing against Delhi Capitals in the 2023 season at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
