Sehwag Warns Vaibhav Suryavanshi: 'If He Thinks He's Become A Crorepati, We Won't See Him In IPL Next Year' (Source: BCCI/IPl)

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag shared a valuable piece of advice to 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi who became the youngest player to feature in IPL history. Vaibhav made his debut for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and played a crisp innings of 34, hitting two boundaries and three sixes.
Suryavanshi, however, failed to impress against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and was dismissed for 16 in 12 balls.
Sehwag advised Vaibhav to stay grounded after making headlines in his debut match. Sehwag said he has seen players who do well at the start, and then fade out as they feel they have become a star.
"If you step out knowing that you will get praised for doing well and criticised for not doing well, you will remain grounded. I have seen many players who come, get fame from one or two matches, then they do not do anything, because they think that they have become a star player," said Sehwag on Cricbuzz.
Sehwag said Suryavanshi should learn from Virat Kohli and aim to play the IPL for 20 years, saying that if he is satisfied with his performance, thinking that he has become a crorepati, he might not be seen in the next season.
"Suryavanshi must aim to play 20 years in the IPL. Look at Virat Kohli, he started playing when he was 19 years old, now he has played all 18 seasons. That is what he should be trying to emulate. But, if he is happy with this IPL, thinking that he is now a crorepati, had a great debut, hit a six off the first ball, maybe we won't see him next year," added Sehwag.
