RR Accused Of Deliberately Losing To LSG In Shocking 'Match-Fixing' Claim (Source: BCCI/IPL)
Twice in two games, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) succumbed to defeats from winning positions. They failed to chase a mere nine runs in the final over against the Delhi Capitals (DC), and lost the game in a Super Over, before making a mess of another chase, this time against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), where they yet again failed to chase nine in the last over.
RR have been very ordinary in IPL 2025. Despite retaining the core of the team that performed well in the previous seasons, the spark is missing from the Sanju Samson-led side. The team is currently languishing at the eighth position with two wins and five defeats.
RR Accused Of Match Fixing
Jaideep Bihani, convenor of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee, raised serious concerns about RR's performance in the previous game against LSG and asked how a team could lose a game when they needed just nine runs to win in the final over. He said that even a kid would understand that the match was fixed by watching how things unfolded.
How RR Lost Vs LSG
Chasing a target of 181, RR got a fiery start, courtesy of Yashasvi Jaiswal (74) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (34), the youngest player in IPL history. The pair added 85 runs in 8.4 overs, and a win looked easy when Suryavanshi departed. RR needed 25 runs in the last three overs, with eight wickets in hand. It was a situation where 9 out of 10 teams would end up on the winning side, however, RR succumbed to the brilliance of Avesh Khan. He removed Jaiswal and Riyan Parag in the 18th over, giving just five runs, before defending nine in the last over. LSG eventually won the game by two runs.
