Jos Buttler reserved high praise for his Gujarat Titans' (GT) teammate ahead of their 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday (April 21) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Buttler, who joined the Shubman Gill-led side after the 2025 IPL Mega Auction, hailed the star Indian batter.
Talking about IPL 2025's orange cap holder, Buttler claimed that he was impressed with the talent and dedication from the day he joined GT. During the GT-KKR clash, Sudharshan hit his fifth half-century of the season and became the first player to score 400 runs this season.
“From day one of watching him in the nets, I was blown away by his talent and dedication. He's getting the results as well. Very classical player, hits the ball very hard and doesn't look like much can go wrong with him. He's been very consistent this season and we need him to keep going,” said Buttler in a pre-match interaction with the host broadcasters.
With Gill and Sudharshan opening the batting, Buttler has taken up a new role at the Titans and walks out at number three after years of opening for the Rajasthan Royals. However, the ex-England captain has been at his brilliant best and is the third-highest run-getter of the season with 356 runs in eight innings at an average of 71.20 and a strike-rate of 165.58, which included three half-centuries including a highest score of 97, which came against Delhi Capitals as he remained unbeaten in a massive run-chase.
Talking about Sudharshan, he has 417 runs in eight innings at an average of 52.12 and a strike-rate of 152.18. The 23-year-old became the quickest Indian to 1000 IPL runs last season and in course to shatter multiple records.
The left-handed batter has already played three ODIs and one T20I for India. Infact, he holds the unique feat of being only the second Indian after Navjot Singh Sidhu to score half-centuries in their first two ODIs for the Men in Blue.
