Delhi Capitals are currently taking on the Rajasthan Royals in an exciting IPL 2025 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. As the Capitals announced their playing XI after being put in to bat first by RR, the one big name missing was Faf du Plessis. In fact, the ex-South Africa captain is now missing his second match in a row. This might be a big blow for the Capitals, given he has scored some big runs whenever he has played.

Faf du Plessis sustained an injury while fielding for Delhi Capitals in their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He was hence ruled out for the match against MI on April 13 (Sunday). He is yet to recover from this injury and hence is missing out on this match as well.

In his absence, Abhishek Porel opened the batting with Jake Fraser-McGurk in both matches. Karun Nair replaced him in the batting order and scored 89 in 40 balls vs MI.

In an interaction ahead of the DC vs MI game, Faf du Plessis had declatred that he would be 100% fit before next week as he aims to DC ready for the back end of the tournament.

“Unfortunately, the boys used me as an impact player in the last game and I fielded as well, which I regret now, standing up here. I'm not wearing the spikes. I have been really lucky in the last 3 years to finish competitions and not miss out through injury. This is new grounds for me where you are trying to be 100% fit but you are not quite there. The competent in you want to get back as soon as possible. But playing the patient game. Hopefully, I get that right in the next week and get ready for the back end of the tournament,” the South African said.
