MS Dhoni was dismissed by Sunil Narine for just one run, but his dismissal created a massive controversy during the IPL game between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chepauk.
It all happened on the third ball of the 16th over when Narine got one to spin and turn it sharply into Dhoni, who prodded his front foot forward. Narine went for the appeal, and the umpire's finger went up immediately.
UltraEdge confirms no bat was involved, and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. The on-field call for OUT remains. However, the third umpire took a long time to verify a small murmur on the UltraEdge as the ball passed the bat and decided it wasn't off the bat, and CSK fans were visibly disappointed as the skipper, Dhoni had to make the long walk back into the pavilion. After the decision, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming was seen talking with umpire Chris Gaffney.
As Dhoni failed to make an impact with the willow, his team also faltered as Kolkata Knight Riders restricted Chennai Super Kings to a lowly 103/9.
Sent into bat, CSK never really got going as they lost wickets at regular intervals to be limited to their lowest total at home.
Shivam Dube ( 31 not out), Vijay Shankar (29) and Rahul Tripathi (16) were the main run getters for CSK.
For KKR, Sunil Narine (3/13) was the pick of the bowlers, while Harshit Rana (2/16) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/22) picked up two wickets each.
