Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were defeated comprehensively by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by a margin of xx runs. CSK are in deep trouble, having lost five matches in a row. This was an unfortunate result for CSK as this marked the first game since MS Dhoni returned to captain CSK after 683 days. They are down and out and looking like one of the worst teams this season, and a shadow of their usual champion selves. However, they still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

CSK are currently 9th on the points table with 2 points on the board and a Net Run Rate of -1.554. They still have 8 games remaining in the tournament. If they win 7 out of these 8 games, then they will be on 16 points. Generally, 16 points have been enough for teams to qualify for the playoffs, and hence CSK still have a glimmer of hope. If they win all their 8 remaining games, then they for sure will qualify for the playoffs.

KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first, and made full use of sluggish track at Chepauk. They restricted the home side to 103/9 in their 20 overs. Vijay Shankar (29) and Shivam Dube (31) were the only batters who breached the 20-run mark for CSK.

Sunil Narine was the star of the show for KKR with the ball, as he took 3 wickets for 13 runs in his four overs. Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy also chipped in with 2 wickets each.

KKR chased the target down in 10.1 overs, with 8 wickets in hand, with relative ease. Sunil Narine top scored for the team with a quickfire 44 runs from 17 balls. He deservedly won the Player of the Match award.
