Gujarat Titans (GT) celebrated their 50th IPL game with a win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a home game on Wednesday (April 9). The Shubman Gill-led side registered a big 58-run win over the Sanju Samson-led team. Sai Sudharsan was bestowed with the Player of the Match award for his match-winning knock of 82 off 53 balls.
GT, who now sit at the top spot in the IPL 2025 points table, etched their name in history books and became the team with the most wins after 50 matches. The IPL 2022 Champions have 32 wins from 50 matches.
They are followed by Rajasthan Royals, who have 29 wins. With 28 wins each, five-time IPL Champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) share the third spot. CSK and MI locked horns in their first IPL final against each other in 2010.
Gujarat Titans' IPL journey
Gujarat Titans made their IPL debut in 2022. Hardik Pandya-led GT made a memorable debut and defeated Rajasthan Royals in the final to lift the title. They won 10 out of their 14 league stage matches to finish at the top spot in the points table.
GT continued their purple patch and made it to the final of IPL 2023, where they lost to Chennai Super Kings in a last-ball thriller. Once again, they finished at the top spot with 10 wins from 14 matches.
GT suffered a big blow before IPL 2024 as captain Hardik moved to Mumbai Indians via trade. Shubman Gill-led GT struggled in IPL 2024 and finished at the 8th spot with only 5 wins from 14 matches.
The team management retained Shubman as the captain and he has excelled on the captaincy front so far. They are now eyeing their second IPL title. GT will face Lucnow Super Giants in their next game on April 12.
