The World Championship of Legends (WCL) was a massive hit among cricket aficionados as fans got a glimpse of stars from yesteryear and active players not contracted by their respective national boards.
In its debut season, cricketing greats like Yuvraj Singh, Kevin Pietersen, Chris Gayle, and Shahid Afridi reignited old rivalries, and in the final, it was India who beat Pakistan to clinch the title.
The India Champions versus Pakistan Champions match alone attracted over 150 million concurrent viewers.
With its perfect blend of cricketing heritage and entertainment, WCL has also become the second most-watched cricket tournament after the Indian Premier League (IPL), reaching a staggering 325 million viewers worldwide.
Now, WCL also holds the distinction of being the only tournament of its kind approved by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
In Season 2, AB de Villiers is all set to make his long-awaited return to competitive cricket after four years. De Villiers, known for his innovative and electrifying style of play, will lead the Game Changers South Africa Champions in the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL).
But he's not the only star attraction--other big names such as Shikhar Dhawan, Dwayne Bravo, Sir Alastair Cook and Moeen Ali have also joined the league. Dhawan’s inclusion in the Indian Champions is expected to bolster the team’s top order, providing solid starts and setting up the platform for the rest of the batting lineup.
The tournament will be held in four cities – Birmingham, Northampton, Leeds, and Leicester.
