Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) regained their momentum in the IPL 2025 when they sealed a nail-biting win by 12 runs against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday (April 7). The star of the show for RCB was none other than captain Rajat Patidar, who continued his golden form with the bat, slamming his second half-century of the season. His performance ensured that he became the first player ever to achieve a mega feat in the IPL.
Rajat Patidar slammed 64 from 32 balls in an innings studded with 5 fours and 4 sixes. His performance earned him a Player of the Match as RCB won in Wankhede for the first time in 10 years. Earlier this season, Patidar slammed his first half-century vs CSK, scoring 52 from 31 balls. He earned a Player of the Match in that innings as well, as RCB won at the MA Chidambaram Stadium after 17 years.
Patidar thus became the first captain ever to win a Player of the Match award vs MI at Wankhede and vs CSK at Chepauk in IPL history.
Rajat Patidar also completed the rare treble of winning away matches against MI, KKR and CSK in the same season. He becomes the first Indian captain to do so. He is also the second captain after David Hussey (Kings XI Punjab. IPL 2012) to achieve this rare feat.

RCB Continue Momentum, Defeat MI By 12 Runs

RCB completed their third win in four matches as they continued their unbeaten record away from home in the IPL 2025. This was the Rajat Patidar-led side's first victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in 10 matches after six defeats in a row.
Chasing 222, MI lost openers Rohit Sharma (17) and Ryan Rickleton (17) in the powerplay. Will Jacks (12) and Suryakumar Yadav (28) failed to have an impact. Hardik Pandya (42 of 15) nearly pulled of a miracle while Tilak Varma completed a redemption after a class knock of 56 in 29 balls. However, both lost their wicket in within three balls. Krunal Pandya took four wickets while Yash Dayal and Josh Hazlewood got two wickets each.
Earlier, RCB posted 221 on the board after the MI won the toss and chose to bowl first. Virat Kohli top scored with 67, while Rajat Patidar slammed 64. On the other hand, Jitesh Sharma slammed 40 from 19 deliveries.
