English all-rounder Moeen Ali has been left out of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) playing XI for their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match on April 8 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Ali has been struggling with both bat and ball, having scored just 5 runs and taken 2 wickets across two matches for KKR so far.
KKR made one change to their lineup from the previous game, with ace pacer Spencer Johnson replacing Ali in the team, who has been dropped. The English all-rounder had not been able to contribute effectively with the bat or the ball, prompting the defending champions to opt for a change. Meanwhile, LSG captain Rishabh Pant confirmed that they have not made any changes to their playing XI.
"We are going to bowl first. The wicket looks really good, it's not that hot. The wicket won't change much. One side boundary is small, that's why we are bowling first. Everyone is looking forward to this game. This game is all about starting fresh, need to take the positives, need to take one step at a time. People are going to talk about it, we know Quinny and Sunil are match-winners. We are not worried about them. Spencer comes in place of Moeen," LSG Captain Rishabt Pant said.
