LSG vs KKR IPL 2025: It was a rare sight at Eden Gardens during the match between Kolkata Knight Riders vs Lucknow Super Giants as ball boys outside the ground were spotted wearing helmets.

The protective gear was forced on the youngsters for safety reasons as both teams kept hitting sixes at will.

After being put in to bat, LSG powered their way to a mammoth 238/3. LSG's opening pair of Aiden Markram (47 off 28; 4x4, 2x6) and Marsh (81 off 48; 6x4, 5x6) gave them a blazing start.

Later, Pooran lit up the evening with his 36-ball unbeaten 87, studded with seven fours and eight sixes.

When KKR began the run chase, both the openers, Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine, also cleared the ropes with ease. Even after QDK's departure, when Rahane entered the field, he too began with a flurry of sixes. Later on, Venkatesh Iyer also hit maximums at will.

This steady stream of sixes towards the boundary ropes prompted the unusual measures for the ball boys. At the same time, it was also a stark reminder of the brute power that was on display during the encounter at Eden.

After LSG's innings, Mitchell Marsh reflected on the nature of the pitch and said, "To be honest, I thought 180-190 was par, but the ball came onto the bat better once it got a bit older. Obviously, blessed to have Pooran on our side. I have played against him (Markram) a lot, but it's nice to bat along with him. We are traditional in the way we play. We try to play good cricket shots. It's a small ground with a fast outfield. I have been staying good with my routine and thinking. I try to watch the ball and have fun. Hopefully, I continue scoring runs going forward. Hopefully, I'll watch the boys get a win."
