Fans are bemused as there is only one match scheduled for IPL 2025 today, Sunday, April 6. Usually, the IPL features doubleheaders on weekends, with one game in the afternoon followed by another in the evening. However, this Sunday, there is only one game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, leaving fans looking for answers as to why there are not two matches today.
As per the original schedule of IPL 2025, Sunday, April 6, had two matches slated - with SRH playing GT and Kolkata Knight Riders facing Lucknow Super Giants. However, the second match of the day between KKR and LSG at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, was rescheduled following a request for a change from local authorities.
Why the KKR vs LSG game was rescheduled
The Kolkata Police — in charge of the match's security — requested a change in the match date due to Ram Navami celebrations coinciding with the game. It would have been a challenge for the police to provide security coverage for both events. The KKR vs LSG match was rescheduled after the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) relayed the message to the BCCI. As a result, only the SRH vs GT match will take place today at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The KKR vs LSG match will now be held on April 8 at Eden Gardens. So, on Tuesday, there will be two matches — the KKR vs LSG game starting at 3:30 PM, and the Punjab Kings versus Chennai Super Kings match starting at 7:30 PM.
