Sufiyan Muqeem created history and etched his name in record books during the third ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand on Saturday (April 5). The home team continued its dominant run and registered a 43-run win to seal the series 3-0. The Michael Bracewell-led side put on a total of 264/2 in a 42-over game.
Pakistan were bowled out for 221 in 40 overs and lost the game by 43 runs. Muqeem, who scalped one wicket, created a world record while batting during Pakistan's innings. He came out to bat at number 12 once again.
Sufiyan Muqeem creates history
Sufiyan Muqeem created history in the third ODI and became the first player in the world to bat twice at number 12 in ODIs. He was part of the playing XI in both ODIs but came out to bat at last due to concussion substitutes coming ahead of him.
Imam ul Haq was hit on the jaw while taking a run and was ruled out during the third ODI. He was replaced by Usman Khan, who scored 12 off 17 balls. Sufiyan came out to bat at number 12 and scored 2 off 6 balls.
In the second ODI, Haris Rauf was ruled out of the game after being hit on the helmet. He was replaced by Naseem Shah, who scored a brilliant 51 off 44 balls. Muqeem scored an unbeaten 13 off 10 balls in the previous game.
Pakistan only managed one win in NZ
Pakistan had a forgettable tour of New Zealand and they only managed to win 1 out of 8 games there. The visitors lost the first 2 T20Is. They finally registered a win in the third T20I. NZ won the last 2 T20Is to clinch the series 4-1. NZ won all three ODIs to clinch the series 3-0. They were without the services of their IPL-bound players for the complete series.
