22-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Abhishek Porel, scored a quick 33 to give a strong start after DC lost their first wicket in the very first over against CSK. Abhishek came at no.3 after Jake Fraser-McGurk departed for a duck.

Despite DC being at 1/1. Porel went on the offensive and smashed 19 runs in the second over of the match bowled by Mukesh Chaudhary. He slammed 33 runs in 20 balls with the help of four boundaries and one six.

The young explosive wicketkeeper batter from Bengal, Abhishek Porel, joined DC in 2023 where he didn't get enough opportunities. DC tried him for another season, and in 2024, Abhishek has scored 327 runs at a strike rate of 159.51. Abhishek has played 29 first-class games for Bengal in which he has scored 1324 runs at 32.29.

He was retained by DC ahead of the IPL 2025 auction as their uncapped retention for Rs 4 crore.

Abhishek stole the limelight during the first game for DC in 2024. He played a cameo while coming at no.9 32 runs in just 10 balls against Punjab Kings, making him an overnight sensation. In IPL 2024, he was the prime middle-order batter for DC as he averaged 32.70 and scored two half-centuries.

Star batter Faf du Plessis is missing the Chepauk game. Sameer Rizvi, who was associated with CSK in the previous season, has replaced Faf in the game. Delhi Capitals is yet to lose its first game in IPL 2025, they have defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants in the first two games of teh tournament.
