Pakistan vs. New Zealand's third ODI witnessed a bizarre power failure at the Bay Oval. The incident occurred during the 39th over of the match, as Jacob Duffey ran in to bowl the delivery. At this point, the floodlights went off, engulfing the ground in darkness.
The situation could have turned ugly had Duffy released the ball and hit the batter. Thankfully, no one was injured, and play resumed after a short delay.
Incidentally, the right-handed batter found himself walking back to the pavilion straight after the lights came back on as Duffy dismissed him for 33 off 31 deliveries.
Pakistan vs New Zealand 3rd ODI
New Zealand won the game by 43 runs and wrapped up the series 3-0. Chasing 263 in a rain-curtailed game of 42 overs, Pakistan batters had no answers as Ben Sears ripped through the batting lineup.
Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan expressed his disappointment after the game and said: "Disappointing series for us. (Positives) Babar was in good touch with two fifties. Naseem Shah's batting as well. In the bowling, Sufiyan Muqeem was the guy who bowled really well. I give credit to New Zealand in all departments. They've been playing well. We know that these are difficult conditions for us here but they played in Pakistan really well.
"They played against us in Pakistan. There are professionals in all departments. We need to improve, that's it. In New Zealand, it's very important to play well against the new ball. We'll learn from here and fix it. If you lose, you can't say like that (when asked if today was their best performance of the tour). Individually, we are good. New Zealand won all the key moments. After Champions Trophy and this series, we'll leave the past," he concluded.
